Afro-American & AmericanProgress

Re: U.S. Senator Obama & Congressman Harold Ford Jr. – I have the idea that perhaps both these men would avoid classifying themselves as ‘Afro-American,’ elected leaders but rather consider themselves USA American elected leaders, which is just great in itself.
Senator Obama is the first black Senator in the U.S. Congress and it looks like 6-term Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is about to become the second black Senator in the U.S. Congress.
What great progress compared to the slave days and era of racial oppression. To see Harold Ford Jr. go around campaigning in the southern state of Tenn., shaking hands with the ‘good old boys,’ and seeking to rally to votes of the ‘red-necks,’ (please excuse the stereotypes), but it is the stereotypes that have been turned upside down on their heads!
It is also true that their words and ideas are not ‘black,’ ideas or only black issues, but they are speaking to the issues of all the American people; and the American people are listening and being inspired once again.
It is an inspred America and a hopeful America that is truly the great power in the world; not an America ruled by fear and hate, as the Bush Administration has done for the last six years.
I’d vote for Harold Ford Jr at the drop of a hat. I’d vote for Senator Obama to be President of the United States of America too. (But, you know, I’m not convinced he’s proved himself yet).
But isn’t that cool. I (a white person of immigrant Irish parents), vote for Obama and I’d vote against Obama for President and I don’t care if he’s black or what? Which is really the point they have both insisted on making.
I’d vote for them men because they are both offering a positive message, they both talk about the real issues, they both talk about hope, they both value America as their home they’d like to make better. They both inspire me.
I’d vote for Hillary Clinton too. I wan’t so sure about that until her recent declaration that the War in Iraq was a mistake and we need to get out, (and maybe we could kill or capture bin Laden while we’re leaving). Hillary is inspiring too but another fact that has been growing is how all the unfounded Republican criticism of the Clinton’s has just been more of their ‘fear & smear,’ politics which should sicken us all. I’d vote for Hillary just to shut the Republicans up and show them how wrong they are and how their ‘fear and smear,’ politics is a loser.
Hillary and Obama!? Would that be a great pair for the Presidential elections of 2008? Would that make us feel proud to be Americans again? Would that be the real power of American, the shining light of liberty and hope and clear as the Liberty Bell and as bright as the Statue of Liberty./
And U.S. Senator Harold Ford Jr. could help carry the state of Tenn..
Author Tells an Honest Story!
Bob Woodward, one of the reporters who exposed the domestic spying, lies and cover-ups of Nixon and his staff has now taken aim on the deceit, mendacity, lies and fabrications of Bush and his Administration: fabricated WMD, fabricated intelligence, fabricated ‘coalition against global terrorism,’ fabricated Christianity, fabricated patriotism.
One of the most specific and new details is that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was warned about Osama bin Laden just months before the 9-11 terror attacks, not only by fromer director of National Security Richard Clark (who testified to this at the 9/11 commission) but also former CIA Director George Tenet and Cofer Black, the State Department’s former anti-terrorism chief, went to Rice on July 10, 2001, in an unscheduled meeting, with intelligence that showed that bin Laden planned to attack the United States.
And she told us she wasn’t warned about bin Laden.” Nobody could have imagined such a thing,” she insisted.
“Who could have guessed?” VP Dickey Cheney kept saying. “What? Me worry?” was George Bush’s attitude.
The thing about Bob Woodward is
1. He gets his facts straight.
2. He tells the truth.
3. He has great contacts and inside sources.
4. He knows what he’s talking about.
This man did the nation a great service in those Watergate years and he has now done us a great service again.
Someday we’ll toss all the lies, corruption and greed of the Bush Aministration off our backs like a bad dream.
Men like Bob Wardwood, by casting a spotlight on the realities of this worst presidency in American history, have brought clarity to the situation, while the White House thrives on confusion and coverup.
Bob Wardwood: not just the ‘man of the week,’ but a reporter with a lifetime of decent hardwork that has helped the American people.
