Mike Gravel, former US Senator from Alaska: True American Hero

At the first presidential candidates debates, former US Senator from Alaska, Mike Gravel, came out swinging about George W,’s “fraudulent war.. Iraq has never been a threat to us. We invaded them. I mean, it is unbelievable. The military-industrial complex not only controls our government lock, stock and barrel but they control our culture.”

Wow. There hasn’t been a straight-shooter like this in American politics in a long, long time.

The mass media is saying he is: “quaint.” What they should be saying, if they weren’t so many plastic puppets themselves, is that here is a man of great courage and honest words others are afraid to say (or even admit).

Background info from the Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/04/28/after_debate_little_known_democrat_draws_a_crowd/

“Gravel served two terms in the Senate, representing Alaska from 1969 to 1981 . He made his mark as a fierce Vietnam war critic who staged a one-man filibuster that led to the end of the military draft. He drafted legislation to end funding for the war and released the Pentagon Papers, which detailed government deception over Vietnam, at the end of June 1971.
The Nixon administration decided not to prosecute Gravel for having Beacon Press in Boston publish the papers, though the US Supreme Court ruled that Gravel could release them only inside the Capitol, based on the Constitution’s speech and debate clause.
Gravel today is a fierce critic of the Iraq war and government secrecy.
“This war was lost the day that George Bush invaded Iraq on a fraudulent basis,” he said in the debate. Believing that Congress has the power to both declare and end wars, he called for a law to end the war.
“He’s the one to say not only that the emperor has no clothes, but that the emperor wannabes have no clothes.”

I didn’t know we had such brave men on this level of politics! I’m impressed as hell. Gravel also said:

We are mischaracterizing terrorism. Terrorism has been with civilization from the beginning, and it will be there till the end. We’re going to be as successful fighting terrorism as we are fighting drugs with the war. It doesn’t work. What you have to do is to begin to change the whole foreign policy.

This invasion brought about more terrorists — Osama bin Laden must have been rolling in his blankets …What we need to do is to begin to deal with the rest of the world as equals, and we don’t do that. We spend more as a nation on defense than all the rest of the world put together. “

We’re the one’s spending the most money of weapons in the world (more than all the rest of the world together)!?

We’re the one’s who invaded Arab land!?

“This war was lost the day that George Bush invaded Iraq on a fraudulent basis!”

Somehow the fact that the war was started with lies still eludes most national debate. You can’t win a war based on lies (if the people know about it,which we do).

When you make a mistake you have to go back to that point where the mistake was made, and start again, this time doing it correctly.

Mike Gravel how now helped many of us to realize that, and to realize it with the full belief it deserves. As the Eagles sang: “We ain’t had that spirit here since 1969.”

A STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND BASIC INFORMATION FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS TOGETHER

A.C.T. has members from several political parties and progressive activist groups. We admire the actions of the newly empowered Democratic party in challenging Bush and his neo-con warmongers; our goals are the same: We want to defeat the Republican party. Big Time. (See: our Patriot Plan on our Home Page, at:
 http://www.americancitizenstogether.org/ACT/index.html

We have three well-thought out and forceful strategies and tactics to defeat the Republican party. Both potentially earth-shattering  shake up, enough to make ‘big time,’ political history and score points for people power

#1.) Recall Republican governors in ALL seven (7) states where this is possible.
[Note: Such a campaign is already ongoing in Nevada]

#2,) Impeach BOTH Bush and Cheney (Cheney first!)

#3) Work and vote for a Democratic candidate for President in 2008. Defeat all 21 Republican Senators up for re-election. Vote only for Democrats in the House.

Details and more information about  this strategy and tactics can be found, at:
http://www.americancitizenstogether.org/ACT/RecallDriveCampaign.html

A.C.T. hopes  a clear victory over the Republican party can be made so  emphatic that such a  misleading of our nation, with the deliberate use of False Intel, will never happen again. And hopes that working for such an obvious good will lead to other good things for our nation and the world.

We feel this is a sacred honor to be done for ourselves and for our children. Honor: because it requires us all to reach not only deep inside ourselves and discovering the conviction that this is something worth fighting for, for real, for full tilt; but honor because we are forced back to the basic ideals and hopes of this country, not the forced-fed lies of hate and fear, but the ideal of great men like Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, John Adams, George Washington and so many others who knew when it was their time to fight and had to stand on the ground of things like: This nation is governed by the people for the people. No one is above the law. No one has special privilages. Men and woman can not be forced to pay taxes or simply accept all the dictates of a government unless they are part of that government, unless they are represented in that government, unless they are that government.

The goals of this nation and the goals of A.C.T. are the same:  Liberty, justice and equality for all. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Equal education. Equal opportunity. Equal rights to a full life.

The White House of Cards is crumbling.

USA? Yea or Nay?

act_logosmall.pngThe dividing line has never been clearer:

Do we push for more war or do we realize we’ve been lied to, turn around, and get back to making our country what it should be. Do we continue to allow the warmongers who have hijacked our nation go on and on with their madness? Or can we shut them down?

If you want to help shred the Republican party, click here.

A.C.T. also recommends supporting the newly empowered Democrats who have done a wonderful job in standing up to President Bush and challenging his insane misdirection of our nation.

People and nations are best when the fight wars they have to. Then real strength comes out of folks. But to see an unnecessary war, started on lies, inflicting great harm on ourselves and the world, it’s a tragic waste of what was a great dream, a great hope.

Yea or Nay? It can’t go on this way any longer.

Our group is fighting everyday to bring our nation not only back to it’s senses, not only back to a path of caring for and rebuilding our own nation and helping our own people, but back to the ideas, actions and ideals that once made us a great nation; and even if we fell short, many times, even if we fell short many times at least we knew where we were going and we knew that we were heading in a good direction.

Can we say that now?

Can you say that now?

USA? Yea or Nay?

We ‘apologize,’ for suddenly getting the idea of listing our own group here; after posts over dozens and dozens of others; but we suddenly realized ‘we were in the game too; we were in the fight.”

And although  we know others have done more, others have suffered and worked harder, others have stood up to greater challenges, well: we’re here too; we’re in the fight.

So let the real enemy beware!  Let the real unpatriotic people run in shame! Let the real ‘evil doers,’ release their vampire grip upon our nation and slink back to whatever dark hole they came form.

Let ALL our names be here: big and small. Let ALL of us do what we can.

God  bless us all.

Rosie O’Donnell: Rosie’s Got It Right! She Deserves the Medal of Freedom!

rosieodonnell.jpgIs it ‘Tokyo Rosie’ who’s the traitor to America? Or is it USA Warmongers?

Don’t think twice about it: Rosie’s got it right!

Her latest suggestion that the War on Terror is a pile of propaganda is A#1 spot-on!
It’s the truth!
And it’s so damn refreshing to hear!

If her words have aided in deleting this ‘Global War on Terror,’ pile of propaganda from the upcoming Defense Bill, she should be given a Medal of Freedom!

Efforts to defame her, discount her, discredit her, even before her ideas are discussed ,display the hideous new ‘politics of personal insult,’
Well, if that’s the way it is, then it’s time to start INSULTING BACK!,and drive the true evil that USA Oil Fever and bloody Apartheid Zionism have brought to our shores.

Have you noticed that anyone who doesn’t fall in strict adherence to killing Muslims and Arabs and launching invasions and war based on lies, is instantly and shamefully labeled a looney, a kook, an extremist, a traitor, an unpatriot, or worse.

It’s no use debating this anymore folks. Pick a side.

And hopeful let’s not let the fascist and warmongering voices of hate, voices that appear to want our nation to be forever at war, forever at war around the whole world, let’s not let them win: Let’s kick their asses out of our country and get back to our real ideals of freedom of speech (instead of being shouted down by a bunch of braying jackasses and rabid dogs) and freedom of religion (rather then inciting religious hatred).

We’ve lost it, folks. We lost what once was the greatest hope and potential of our nation. We’ve seen our time, our energy, our resources, our cash, our blood all perverted by the interest of big business and foreign interest.

Anyone actually thinks Donald Rumsfeld deserved a Medal of Freedom? Anyone thinks double-talking, and incompetent former CIA Director Tenet deserves a Medal of Freedom? Or former UN Ambassador Bolton? These traitors — traitors to the truth and traitors to the honest and best interests of the American people deserve to be in jail, FGS!, not honored.

Rosie deserves the Medal of Freedom!

And when she gets it I’ll applaud. And we’ll all be a lot freer, 4sure.
